Maruti Suzuki India is fully testing the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift SUV. The compact SUV has been spotted multiple times in recent months, with each sighting revealing fresh details about the update. In its latest guise, the Brezza test mule was spotted equipped with emissions testing equipment, suggesting that Maruti Suzuki is looking at the expected cosmetic and feature upgrades as well as a new powertrain. Recent spy shots of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza provide a clear look at the revised exterior design of the SUV. Earlier sightings had already indicated cabin updates, including a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an underbody CNG tank and a new 6-speed manual gearbox. Currently, the Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 103 PS of power and 137 Nm of torque.
The new Brezza is expected to get the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine from the Fronx. A smaller turbo-petrol engine can put some Maruti Suzuki Brezza variants under the 18% GST category for sub-4m petrol vehicles with engines less than 1.2 litres. The current Brezza, equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, is taxed at 40 per cent GST.In terms of design, the overall silhouette of the car will remain unchanged. The upcoming version may introduce significant modifications in its styling and equipment. In the latest spy shots, the rear of the SUV is captured. The facelifted model will feature a redesigned front bumper and a refreshed grille. Similar cosmetic tweaks are expected at the rear as well. Interestingly, despite the growing trend of integrated tail lamps in new SUVs, the latest Brezza is not expected to adopt this design element as per a recently spied image. Other exterior highlights may include newly styled 16-inch alloy wheels, sleek LED headlamps with DRLs, roof rails and an integrated rear spoiler. Inside the cabin, the general layout is likely to remain familiar, but Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce minor updates to freshen up the interior. These may include a redesigned center console, new upholstery and updated trim elements. The spy photos also hint at a larger touchscreen infotainment system compared to the current model. In terms of equipment, the SUV is expected to offer features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, wireless charging and a premium sound system.
