Indian singer Talwiinder has found herself at the center of a controversy after making a surprise appearance at Pakistani singer Hasan Raheem’s concert in Toronto. While several fans appreciated the cross-border musical moment, others criticized the singer amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. On Tuesday, Talwiinder shared a series of photos and videos from the Toronto concert on Instagram. Along with looks from the show, she wrote: “Wishes came true in Toronto with @hasan_raheem.” Videos circulating on the internet saw Talwiinder joining Hasan Raheem on stage, making out with him, sharing a hug and dancing together. The unexpected collaboration soon sparked controversy on social media, with backlash from fans and critics alike. As clips from the concert went viral, several X users expressed their disappointment. One user wrote: “Meet Talvindar Hasan going to Raheem’s concert who mocked/mocked our Sindoor operation. Why do some Punjabis have so much affection for Pakistanis?” Another commented: “A year into Operation Sindoor, we’re back to perform alongside Pakistani artistes abroad. If you don’t get a reaction, go ask the victim/gunmen involved – what it means to them.” One user said, “Why is Talwinder talking to a Pakistani who literally said this? These artists have no shame and those who support them are a much bigger threat in this society.”

At the same time, many users came out in support of Talwinder, arguing that music and art should be kept separate from political tensions. One follower wrote, “Think there were no Indians at the concert? And considering it was a surprise appearance by Talwiinder, that means a lot of Indians went to see a Pakistani artist. That’s very normal, Indians mix quite well with Pakistanis in Toronto.”Talwiinder, whose full name is Talwiinder Singh Sidhu, initially built his audience through Spotify and platforms.
