Congress attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Yet, the reality is that he is not even able to stop the paper leak,” Congress Youth Wing President Uday Bhanu Chib remarked at a press conference at the party headquarters, where he and NSUI Chief Vinod Jakhar also demanded that the government should compensate the students affected by the cancellation of the examination.
Chibb said the paper leak problem has caused repeated failures over the years. “In the last 10 years, 89 papers have been leaked, and the exams have been re-conducted 48 times. This shows that the government has completely abandoned its accountability towards students,” he said.He said that students preparing for competitive exams are severely affected by the occurrence of such incidents. “If we put ourselves in the shoes of these students, maybe we can truly feel their pain. Students prepare diligently and appear for these exams, but when a paper is leaked, they lose faith in the system.”Chib raised more questions about his work. National Testing Agency (NTA), including the audit and private vendor selection process.“We demand that the education minister resign immediately, the government provide compensation to the affected students, and that a JPC be constituted to investigate the NEET paper leak,” he said.NSUI president Vinod Jakhar said that Rajasthan was the epicenter of the alleged paper leak and claimed that the issue revealed deeper problems in the system. He also questioned the frequency of leaks and re-exams.“After all, what is the reason for 89 paper leaks in the last 10 years, including four cases of NEET paper leaks and 48 re-examinations? These incidents raise serious questions about the integrity of our education system,” he said.He further said that students have lost faith in the system and expressed frustration over repeated disruptions in examinations.Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi He also attacked the government on Tuesday, alleging that those involved in earlier examination irregularities were being protected instead of being held accountable.In a post on X, he questioned the posting of the former NTA chief who headed the agency during the NEET-UG 2024 controversy and said the government was rewarding people involved in such matters.The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday canceled the NEET-UG exam scheduled for May 3 amid allegations of a paper leak and said the government has ordered a CBI inquiry into the irregularities.The NTA said in a statement on X that the decision was taken “in the interest of maintaining transparency and confidence in the national examination system”.The exam was held on May 3 across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad, in which around 2.3 lakh candidates appeared. The re-examination will be conducted on dates to be announced in the next seven to ten days.
