Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced plans to set up a new vehicle manufacturing facility in India. The upcoming plant will be located in Maharashtra’s Budkin Industrial Area and is expected to start operations in the first half of 2029.The new facility will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and is expected to create around 2,800 jobs when production begins. Toyota says the plant will produce a new SUV and handle key production operations including stamping, welding, painting and assembly.According to the company, the new manufacturing hub is part of its strategy to strengthen its long-term business operations in India while also meeting demand from nearby international markets.
Existing plants of Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Currently, Toyota Kirloskar Motor operates two manufacturing plants in Bedadi, Karnataka. The first plant, established in October 1997 and production started in December 1999, produces models such as Toyota Innova High Cross, Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Legend. The facility has a production capacity of up to 1,32,000 units per annum.Toyota’s second plant began production in December 2010 and currently produces models including the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hybrid and Toyota Hilux. The second facility has an annual production capacity of up to 2,10,000 units. Toyota Kirloskar Motor currently has a total production capacity of up to 3,42,000 units in its existing facilities.
