Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani will breathe new life into the 2007 romantic anthology ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’ with an exciting sequel set to release next year. This new chapter will highlight the journeys of three contemporary couples as they grapple with the intricacies of modern Indian relationships, delving into themes of commitment, societal expectations and emotional turmoil.

Nikhil Advani ‘Salaam-E-Ishq 2’ is in development almost two decades after his romantic anthology first hit the screens in 2007. The sequel will turn the film into a franchise, with a new story based on three couples whose love, destiny and personal choices intersect. The film will explore engagement issues, social pressure and emotional conflicts in contemporary India. The original ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’ had a great ensemble cast including Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Govinda, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna and Sohail Khan among others. Advani plans to assemble another prominent multi-generational cast for the sequel. The makers are yet to announce the cast. In a recent interview with Variety India, Advani called the film “almost a death blow” to his career. He further said, “It’s a good time for a (Salaam-e-Ishq) franchise. It’s mainly because I know the mistakes I’ve made.”
