This year, the Madhyamik examination under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) saw an average pass percentage of 84.18 out of 27,094 students, while the higher secondary examination recorded a pass percentage of 79.83 out of 26,502 students.Announcing the results on Friday, TBSE president Prof. Dhananjaya Gonchoudhary said that the results will improve further, as per norms, students will be allowed to appear for improvement exams within the next two months under the Bachao Bachao Abhiyan (Academic Year Saving Campaign).The board has also announced its decision not to release the top ten merit list this year as possible discrepancies may arise during the re-evaluation or self-evaluation process, explained Professor Gonchowdhury. Citing previous instances, he said that last year, when students initially in the top ten were displaced after re-checking, this created complications for both the students and the board.Students securing a position in the top ten merit list from any board are often eligible for direct admission to medical or engineering colleges without taking an entrance exam. To address fairness concerns, TBSE plans to resume publication of the merit list from next year but will issue certificates only after completion of the examination, including scrutiny.Highlighting the institutional performance, he noted that 271 schools secured 100 percent pass in Madhyamik examinations, while five schools secured zero percent pass. For the upper secondary level, 60 schools achieved a perfect pass rate, with one school failing to produce any successful candidates.
