Mumbai: Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings Batsman Ayush Mahathre is likely to be out of action for the next two months due to a hamstring injury as well as a wrist injury, TOI has learnt.“Aayush has not only suffered an injury to his left hamstring but has also been diagnosed with an injury to his wrist. Now he is likely to be out of work for a few months,” a source tracking the development told TOI on Monday.This means Mahatre will not be able to participate in the upcoming edition of the T20 Mumbai League to be played in June. The teenage batsman was retained by Triumph Knights along with India’s T20 captain Surya Kumar Yadav.Mahatre was earlier ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury. The 18-year-old suffered the injury while batting during CSK’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.CSK posted on social media, “Ayush’s injury will require a recovery period of 6-12 weeks. We wish Ayush a speedy recovery.”CSK batting coach Mike Hussey said of Mahatre’s hamstring injury, “It looks very bad unfortunately. He’s going to be a big, big loss because he’s been in great touch for us.”Mahatre scored 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87 in IPL 2026 before injury forced him out.
