India’s electric motorcycle space is finally evolving and the options are increasing day by day. Bengaluru-based EV startup Obin Electric today launched a new product: the Roar Evo. It is up against the new electric motorcycle Meter Era 5000.

Starting with performance, the Oben Rorr Evo uses a 9 kW motor with a 3.4 kWh battery and delivers a claimed top speed of 110 kmph. It can sprint from 0 to 40 kmph in about 3 seconds. The Meter Era 5000, on the other hand, gets 11.5 kW of peak power and a 0-40 km/h time of 2.8 seconds. Its top speed is 105 kmph. The biggest difference here is the ride experience: the Era gets a 4-speed manual gearbox.When it comes to range and battery, Rorr Evo offers 180 km IDC range. It has a 3.4 kWh LFP battery pack. The Matter Aera 5000 comes with a larger 5 kWh battery but offers a slightly lower claimed range of 172 km.

Charging is another important factor, and here both motorcycles offer fast charging capabilities. The Rorr Evo can charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 90 minutes. A standard charge of the Aera 5000 takes about 5 hours, but can get 0-80 percent in the same time using a fast charger.

Oben Rorr EVO vs Matter AERA 5000: Hardware

In terms of hardware, the Matter Aera 5000 uses telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks and gets liquid cooling for both the motor and battery. Braking duties are handled by 270mm front disc and 220mm rear disc with ABS. The Rorr Evo, meanwhile, uses telescopic front suspension and a rear monoshock, with disc brakes at both ends. It also has an aluminum battery casing and a chain drive setup.

Features and technology are strong in both motorcycles. The Rorr Evo comes with a 5-inch TFT display, navigation, geo-fencing, anti-theft protection and a unique SmartiQ AI ride mode that adapts power delivery based on riding style. It also offers features like fall detection with emergency alerts and segment-first 10 liter storage. The Matter Aera 5000, on the other hand, gets a larger 7-inch touchscreen display with 4G connectivity, navigation, OTA updates and connected features via its own app. It also includes keyless operation, gear position indicator and shift assist.

Oben Rorr EVO vs Matter AERA 5000: Pricing

The Oben Rorr Evo is priced at an introductory price of Rs 99,999, ex-showroom, which will increase to Rs 1.25 lakh later. In comparison, the Matter Aera 5000 is priced at Rs 1.81 lakh, ex-showroom.
