New Delhi: Despite posting a massive 243/5, the five-time champion Mumbai Indians Still ended up on the losing side as Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target with eight balls to spare. MI bowlers including fast bowlers Jaspreet Bumrahtook the day off. Known for turning the game with his lethal bowling, Bumrah conceded 54 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.The disappointment of losing despite such a big total was evident on the captain. Hardik Pandyathough he admitted that bowling resources are stretched.It wasn’t just Bumrah – Ashwini Kumar proved costly, conceding 41 runs in two overs at an economy of 20.50. Spinner Ullah Ghazanfar took two wickets but conceded 51 runs at 12.80 in his four overs.With the defeat, Mumbai Indians are ninth with four points from eight matches, while Sunrisers Hyderabad are third with 12 points from nine matches.“I think we don’t have much of an option this season, we really need to see what we can do with all the differences. I won’t put our bowlers under the bus. I think as an overall unit, we haven’t been able to do what Mumbai Indians stand for,” Pandya said when asked how he plans to tackle his bowling attack after failing to defend a strong total.“We really need to look at what we need to work on,” he added.The MI captain said that with the continued support of the franchise owners and support staff, the team will find a way forward.“We have passionate owners and support staff, hopefully we’ll figure something out.”He also lamented the loyal fans of Mumbai Indians, admitting that the team did not give them enough to make them happy.“We haven’t given him much of our support — but he’s been fantastic and loyal. Sometimes it hurts when the opposition comes and they start chanting his name. But maybe we need to give him more.However, Pandya credited the batting unit for delivering, while admitting that missed opportunities – including dropped catches – hurt the team.“Yes, I enjoyed (batting), I enjoyed the ground today, yes, I think 244, I think I will support my bowlers to stop it, but on any other day we couldn’t execute it.“I think it’s been that kind of season (missed chances). When you get a couple of chances, you take them, that’s when the luck and the momentum changes. If you don’t, it hurts you… All the guys tried really hard. They gave everything, but it just didn’t pay off,” he added.Mumbai Indians next face Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.
