He even touched on how and why his most famous anthem, ‘Summer of ’69’, came about.He always explained that he didn’t write the lyrics to ‘Summer of ’69’ and was inspired by Bob Seger’s 1976 song ‘Night Moves’. He added: “It’s such a great song, it’s always pissed me off that it wasn’t written.” He also praised Seger and his song for capturing the essence of nostalgia.He added: “It’s a nostalgic song. It’s romantic. The teenage blues, that awkwardness of trying to figure out sexuality, it’s all there.” He also said, “I got my real six string / I bought it at five / I bought it on a dime / I played it until my fingers bled / It was the summer of ’69.”
