Volkswagen India is gearing up to launch the updated Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV in the Indian market. Its sibling, the Skoda Kushaq facelift, was recently launched with cosmetic changes, new features and added safety. And now, VW is all set to launch the refreshed Taigun facelift soon. Ahead of its official reveal, the updated SUV has been spied testing yet again. The facelifted Taigun will get updated exterior styling with revised front and rear bumpers, fresh LED lighting graphics, and new interior features. As the Taigun and Kushaq are built on the same MQB-A0-IN platform and share much of their underpinnings, the Taigun facelift is likely to incorporate several updates introduced on the new Kushaq recently.

As per the spied image, the facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan is seen getting several design updates, especially at the front end. The SUV now features a slimmer grille with new LED headlamps and LED DRLs connected by a thin LED strip. A bright Volkswagen logo has also been added to the front, while the bumper has been revised for a cleaner look. The side profile is largely unchanged from the current model. However, the facelift may introduce a new design for the alloy wheels. Elements like the traditional door handles, body-color ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, roof rails and shark fin antenna are expected to continue unchanged.
At the rear, the Taigan facelift gets updated tail lamps, though the overall housing of the connected lighting setup looks similar to the current model. The test vehicle seen sports camouflage between the tail lamps, likely hiding a thick full-width LED strip. It can also hide a bright red Volkswagen badge between the tail lamps. The rear bumper has also been revised with a simpler design. Chrome detailing has been toned down, while the silver skid plate now has a smoother finish. The bumper reflectors have been shifted vertically, replacing the horizontal arrangement used on the current model. Also, the spotted test vehicle is a left-hand drive model, indicating that it may be for export markets. Volkswagen markets the Indian-made Taigun in global markets as the T-Cross.

Moving on to the cabin, the overall layout is expected to remain largely unchanged with some minor modifications and feature additions. These may include a panoramic sunroof, rear seat massage function, a fully digital instrument cluster, and AI-based integration for the infotainment system. Other expected features include wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless charger, six-speaker sound system with subwoofer and amplifier, automatic climate control, leatherette seats, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and more. Expected safety features include six airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, all-wheel disc brakes, rain-sensing wipers, defogger, auto IRVM and more.As part of the update, like Skoda, Volkswagen is expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the previous 6-speed unit. The new gearbox is expected to improve fuel efficiency as well as deliver smoother shifts while reducing fuel loss during acceleration and deceleration compared to the outgoing transmission. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol produces 115 hp and 175 Nm of torque. The second engine is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol with 150 hp and 250 Nm. Gearbox options are expected to include only a 7-speed DSG for the 1.5.Photo: Instagram/91Wheels
