AHMEDABAD: Three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had a terrible start to the season. With five wins and just one point from the rain-affected encounter, the Knight Riders are bottom of the table with a solitary point. With the absence of their premier fast bowlers, the declining form of two premier spinners – Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty – and a batting line-up that looks bereft of confidence, KKR took on Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium as the hosts gathered momentum. GT have recovered from two defeats in their opening two matches and arrive at their fort on the back of two victories. This rivalry has historically favored GT, winning three out of four matches. However, the only match GT lost produced one of the most dramatic victories in IPL history, with a then-unknown Ranko Singh hitting five sixes off five Yash Dayal balls to script a famous, come-from-behind victory.
Rinko’s batting this season though has been a shadow of the past. Although Angkrish Raghavnshi and the captain Ajinkya Rahane Having been among the runs, it’s the form (or lack thereof) of Finn Allen and Cameron Green that has let KKR down.Against GT, KKR batsmen run into a confident bowling line-up led by the Purple Cap holder. Prasad Krishna. The pacer’s variations have made things difficult in the middle overs. Mohammad Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Ashok Sharma and leg-spinner Rashid Khan have supported Parsed with reasonably fast bowling.
