In a recent interview, she spoke candidly about her early struggles in Mumbai, revealing how her father opposed her decision to pursue acting. Aayush moved to Mumbai to pursue his BMS degree from Jai Hind College. At that time, she was living comfortably by renting an apartment in Bandra, with domestic help and by persuading her father to buy her a car. However, things took a turn when his university pointed out his poor attendance.He recalled in an interview with Cyrus Broach: “My father was called by the university and told that your son’s attendance is 9 percent. My father came to Mumbai, he was quite embarrassed. My mother was also angry and said: “We didn’t give you a house, a car and you brought us shame. We told the whole family that our child will go to Mumbai and do something by himself.”It was during this clash that Aayush finally confessed his dream of becoming an actor. “I told my father that I wanted to be an actor. I showed him my photo shoot and the CD of my performances. It was a very important moment in my life.” But instead of encouragement, he received harsh criticism.“My father said, ‘You’re not tall, you don’t have the body, you don’t have the voice, you don’t have the good looks. You don’t have any personality. When you walk down the street, no one looks at you. Did anyone ever tell you that you could be an actor?’“’You are nothing close to Bachchan sahab, you are nothing close to Dharmendra ji. You won’t be a hero at all. I won’t even pay 50 rupees to see you on screen.”Even the father made it clear that he would not accept that path. “He said, ‘I gave you money, I gave you too much help. Pack your bags, come to Himachal and do business.'” Cut off, financially, Aayush suddenly found himself on his own. Although he still had a house and a car, his savings quickly dwindled. “Things got to a point where I had 20 rupees left.”At his lowest ebb, a friend stepped in to help. “My friend called me to tell me that he got a job worth 50,000 rubles per month. When he heard about my situation, he deposited 50,000 rupees in my account the next morning.” Despite the obstacles, Aayush did not give up. Later, he returned home with a bold request. “I came back to Himachal and said, ‘Dad, I want 10 million euros to start myself up.’ That’s the number someone gave me.’The father’s answer, however, remained as sharp as ever. “He said, ‘Beta, tune dekha hai kabhi langde ghode pe paisa lagate ho? Main to chalo 10 crore beta samajh ke de bhi dunga, but tere ko dekhne kaun aayega?’ (Have you ever seen anyone bet money on a lame horse? I would still give you 10 million thinking of you as my son, but who will come to see you?)” In the end, it was his grandfather who intervened and convinced his father to give him another chance. “Thankfully, my grandfather told my father that he’s the first in the family to try to do something on his own. Give him a chance and a timeline and my father started giving money again.”
