Writer Rohan Shankar has denied reports that he has walked out of ‘Hera Pheri 3’, calling the rumors surrounding his supposed exit inaccurate and misleading. The clarification comes as new speculation about the film’s status continues to emerge, especially given that the project is tied up in legal disputes over franchise rights. Shankar said that the narrative being spread does not reflect the facts and urged people not to believe headlines built on statements taken out of context.
‘Hera Pheri 3’ Update and Rohan Shankar’s Statement
In comments quoted from his social media statement, Shankar wrote, “Some fake news is being spread in my name about a big movie. It is completely fake and has almost no truth. A simple conversation about my work and cinema has been taken out of context and has become a clickbait headline. Please ignore it.’ His reply directly addresses the reports that said he walked out of ‘Hera Pheri 3’.In a conversation with News18, Shankar explained that he was involved in discussions about the film and also wrote its teaser. He said, “I was in talks, and it was supposed to happen, but it didn’t because of legal issues. Hopefully, if ‘Hera Pheri 3’ happens and Priyadarshan sir is there, maybe I’ll be there.” That statement suggests that the issue is less about a personal outing and more about the film’s production hurdles.
‘Hera Pheri 3’ legal issues and franchise rights
Shankar also spoke about director Priyadarshan’s busy schedule. He said, “No, Priyan sir, because he is doing a lot of work, we have just shot ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Haiwan’, and now he has to do another film. After that, he has to do a film with Mohanlal sir, which is his 100th film… He is not stopping. Mr. Priyan works a lot. Priyan sir and Akshay sir are hard workers”.The biggest issue remains the legal battle over the franchise. According to the Bar and Bench, Seven Arts International Limited had moved the Madras High Court arguing that producer Firoz Nadiadwala had the right to make the only Hindi version of the Malayalam film ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’. The company alleged that it overrode these rights by making ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ and then sold the rights to a third film.
