Kristin Cabot still feels the sting of that awkward kiss cam moment at a Coldplay concert last summer. When Andy Byron was caught hugging his boss at the July 2025 show in Massachusetts, he watched his life slip away. Frontman Chris Martin joked about a possible relationship on stage, and the clip went viral online, prompting scrutiny, harassment, and even death threats, leaving children afraid to see him.
Cutting ties over trust
In her latest chat on The Oprah Podcast, published on March 17, 2026, Cabot revealed that she had cut ties with Byron last fall. “There was a huge lack of honesty and integrity,” he told Oprah Winfrey. “She was not the person she portrayed herself to me, and lying to me is non-negotiable.” When asked if Byron had lied about her marriage, she backtracked to protect her privacy. “I want to be really careful because the world spoke for me and on my behalf, and I don’t want to do that to anybody else and their family,” Cabot said. However, he added: “A lot of what I imagined was not true.”
Coping with the fall
The imbalance hits hard, after the scandal, Andy Byron was seen with his wife, rings, while he was silent. Here, Kristen Cabot feels abandoned. “I was left holding the bag, and I haven’t, you know, been attacked for it and kept quiet, which to me, is not a quality I would look for in a friend or a partner or a boss,” he shared with Winfrey. “So now we don’t have a relationship.”He owns his role but questions the punishment. “I own the bad decision I made at that time, and I’ve paid an unimaginable price for it,” Cabot said, noting that every detail of her appearance was ripped up online. Byron area job offers; he is struggling to get hired, considered “unemployed”. “I think he has the luxury of being quiet, and he can go back to work when he’s ready. I don’t,” he explained. “I have to explain and explain and justify”Through it all, Cabot learned about empathy in a meme-driven world. “I can’t just sit back and accept what happened,” she told Oprah. “And I think it’s important that people understand the real story and also how harmful it is to make assumptions and judge.” His story reminds us that a clip doesn’t define a person, but the Internet sure tries.
