New Delhi: Heartbreaking news hit India on Sunday as legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92. Tributes poured in from across the country, including from cricket icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, who remembered him not only as a musical legend, but from the depths of one’s heart.Tendulkar shared an emotional message, explaining how close she was to her family. “A deeply sad day for music lovers in India and around the world. To us, Asha Tai was family. Today, words fall short of the loss we feel. One moment the heart is silent, and the next it is overflowing with the countless tunes she gifted us all. It feels as if time itself has stood still. Yet through her timeless songs, she will live on forever.“
He also said, “Thank you, Tai, for filling our lives with warmth, grace and unforgettable music. We will miss you more than words, Asha Tai.” Kohli also paid tribute, writing, “Rest in peace, Asha Bhosleji. Your voice touched millions and will live forever in our hearts. Om Shanti.”Several other cricket personalities including Gautam Gambhir and BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla expressed their grief. Gambhir said, “Saddened by the demise of the legendary Asha Bhosleji. His beauty and amazing talent will always remain in our memories.”Asha Bhosle died of multi-organ failure after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital with exhaustion and a chest infection. His son Anand Bhosle confirmed this news. Fans and well-wishers can pay their last rites at his residence in Lower Parel, with cremation later scheduled at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
