New Delhi: A major controversy has erupted around the golf legend Tiger Woods He was arrested on Saturday for driving under the influence after his Land Rover rolled on a two-lane road near his Jupiter Island home in Florida on Friday. Woods was booked into the Martin County Jail, and his mugshot has now been released.Thankfully, the 50-year-old golf icon escaped unhurt but was taken into custody after his car rear-ended a truck while trying to overtake on a residential road on Jupiter Island, which flipped before coming to a stop.Martin County Sheriff John Budensek said Woods showed signs of “impairment,” although he passed a breathalyzer test. However, he was charged with driving under the influence after refusing to take a formal urinalysis test.“When it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused, and so he was charged with DUI, damage to property and refusal to submit to a lawful test in an accident,” Budensek said.The sheriff said narcotics experts who examined Woods at the scene believe the golfer was impaired by “some type of medication or drugs.”However, under Florida law, Budensiek said, Woods had the right to refuse the urine test.“We will never get the final results as to what he was under the influence of at the time of the accident,” Budensek told reporters.While neither Woods nor the driver of the other vehicle was injured, Sheriff Budensek said the incident “could have been a lot worse.”“It’s a small two-lane road,” he said. “If someone was going in the opposite direction, we wouldn’t be communicating saying no one was injured.”Asked to estimate how fast Woods was driving before the crash, Budensek replied: “The answer is I can’t. But I can tell you this — it’s 30 miles per hour.”“When I show you the pictures, they kind of speak for themselves… You can see that he slid to a reasonable place before coming to a stop.”
