Taylor Selfridge has given fans a glimpse into the harrowing two weeks she spent in hospital with her three-year-old daughter, Maya. In a new Instagram post, Taylor called the experience a “nightmare,” but said she was amazed by Maya’s resilience — her little girl fought through every setback. So much so that the former Teen Mom star called her daughter “the strongest little human ever.”

In an Instagram post shared on April 11, Taylor revealed that what started as a minor stomach bug turned into something much more serious and she needed to act fast. Maya’s condition was so bad that she had to be flown from Amarillo to Fort Worth. Eighteen days in the hospital, endless tests and treatments, and finally, they went home. Taylor posted photos of Maya playing games, drinking milk and even celebrating Easter in her hospital room at Cook Children’s Medical Center.Taylor’s posts included pictures of Maya and her mother celebrating Easter, drinking milk and playing some games in the hospital room.In Selfridge’s words, “18 days in the hospital and we’re finally home. What started out thinking it was just a stomach bug turned into something much bigger. My baby is a fighter, the strongest human ever. He’s still recovering, but we’re finally back in California. It’s a lot of unloading and I’m going to do it, but for now I’m thankful to bring my baby home to Fort CU. Worth, TX for saving my babies life. And thank God.”Taylor’s relief was clear. She shared that Maya is still healing and healing. The ‘Teen Mom’ alum also revealed that she hasn’t fully processed everything yet, but right now, she’s thankful that her daughter is back home in California.As for Maya, who Taylor shares with Teen Mom Cory Wharton, she’s been through a lot. He was born in June 2022 with tricuspid atresia, a rare and serious heart defect. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the defect occurs when the heart’s tricuspid valve fails to form, requiring surgery and other procedures. Maya has been under constant care since she was born three years ago.Selfridge first shared Maya’s hospital update after fans noticed her lack of a regular presence on Snapchat. In the initial announcement of Maya’s hospitalization, Selfridge wrote: “16 days in the hospital…this is the longest/most stressful stay we’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot,” adding: “She’s getting so much better looking forward to getting out of here soon 🤍. It’s a long story and I’ll give you an update when we get her home.“On April 10, Maya was officially on her way home after a “life flight” to the hospital. Taylor posted a few photos of Maya leaving the hospital, including her first stop at the Rainforest Cafe.In the caption, the mother-of-two explained, “Honestly, we’re not home yet. So this is part of the long story, but we’re still in Texas,” adding, “We escaped Amarillo, so it’s part of the long story. So we’re going back to California tomorrow. I’m not kidding when I say it was crazy.”However, this is not the first time Maya has faced serious health challenges.He was previously hospitalized for 13 days for an open-heart procedure in October 2025. “Maya had her last open heart surgery called a Fontan. Before the Fontan, her blood was mixing oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, causing her lungs to be low on oxygen,” Taylor said at the time.
