The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has introduced a sliding mechanism for allotment of posts to eligible candidates, with an aim to reduce vacancies and ensure a smooth process for candidates. The move follows repeated instances of candidates not turning up for Document Verification (DV) or being left vacant due to failure to join the allotted portfolios. The Commission had earlier issued a notice on 03 March 2026, outlining the framework. This mechanism will allow for a round of reallocation for posts left vacant due to absenteeism, improving merit-based allocation.
First Round Provisional Allocation (FRTA) and identity verification
FRTA will act on the preferences of the candidates submitted during the application process. To confirm provisional allotment, candidates have to complete Identity Verification (IV) at their respective SSC Regional Offices through Aadhaar based verification.Candidates need to choose one of the following:
- Correct: Accept current allocation as final, with no scope for upgrade.
- Float: Upgradation should be considered if higher priority vacancies arise.
The IV process includes live photo capture, Aadhaar biometric verification, and fingerprint verification. Candidates should carry their Aadhaar card, slot confirmation slip, and registered mobile number for OTP verification. Failure to attend during the allotted window will result in being marked as absent, and no representation will be made.Direct link to check SSC Sliding Mechanism Guide PDF.
Sliding process and final allocation
Vacancies arising due to absence during IV will be identified, and a single sliding round will be conducted for FLOAT candidates based on merit and preference. The final allotment results will then be forwarded to the user departments for verification and placement.Candidates opting for FIX cannot be considered for upgrade. Non-joining will result in the post being carried over to the next recruitment cycle. FLOAT candidates must join upgraded posts if allotted, failing which both old and upgraded posts will be forfeited.SSC emphasizes that all decisions on verification, allotment, and post-verification are final and binding. Candidates are advised to ensure that their application details match the documents prepared during IV to avoid disqualification.
