South Africa’s reliable white-ball batsman, Rosie van der Dusenhas announced his retirement from international cricket, ending a career that made him one of the Proteas’ most reliable performers.The 35-year-old shared the news via social media, expressing his gratitude and pride to represent South Africa. “It is with great pride and deep gratitude that I announce my retirement from international cricket. Wearing the Proteas jersey is a feat that requires resilience and dedication to both Tests, and rewards you in the most incredible way. Playing for my country is the greatest honor of my life. The journey has been paved by years of sacrifice, but the honor of representing South Africa has been worth every moment.”
Van der Dusen made his T20I debut on 29 against Zimbabwe, after an impressive record in domestic and international T20 leagues. While he played 18 Tests since making his debut against England in 2019, it was the ODI format where he really shined. He was a key figure in South Africa’s 2019 World Cup campaign and became a mainstay in the middle order, scoring 2,657 runs in 71 matches at an average above 50, the second highest.
