Punjab Kings (PBKS Capt Shreyas IyerHis sister, Shrestha Iyer, has issued a clarification after a video of her comment following a washout match between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders sparked a backlash on social media. After the match at the Eden Gardens was called off, Shrestha was seen in a video saying in Punjabi, “Sade Punjabiyan da dil bada hota hai, lu de dita ek point,” which translates to “Punjabi’s heart is big. Take a point.” The clip was widely shared online, with some users saying it was a comment to KKR. On Tuesday evening, Shrestha responded through a video on Instagram Stories, saying the comment was not directed at anyone and was made in a lighthearted manner.“Guys, I don’t understand why hate is being spread. It’s just a game. The videos are just for fun, and I’m here to support my brother, I’ll keep it up. No hate for any team, it’s just a game. Everyone should take it from the game,” Shrestha said.“I understand the aggression. I wasn’t trolling anyone. This was my way of celebrating, and I will continue to do so. I’m just here to say no hate. Just love is a game. We should all have fun. Animosity should be shown, no matter what. No personal attacks, just calm down, guys,” she added. The match between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders was affected by rain. KKR won the toss and elected to bat, but lost Finn Allen and Cameron Green to Xavier Bartlett in the second over. After 3.4 overs, rain stopped play and the match was later abandoned due to a wet outfield. Both teams shared one point each. Punjab Kings lead the table with five points, while Kolkata Knight Riders opened their account and moved to eighth place ahead of Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
