‘Sarkar’ is surely one of the best works Ram Gopal Varma and although the film’s subsequent sequels received mixed reviews, these ‘Godfather’ inspired films have a cult following. Ram Gopal Varma has now officially confirmed this Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will not be a part of ‘Sarkar 4’. In a recent interaction with IANS, the filmmaker addressed the ongoing casting speculation. When asked directly about Aishwarya’s participation, he made his stand clear: “No, no, no. Aishwarya is not there.”

While talking about the film, Ram Gopal Varma hinted at a larger narrative scale. He shared that the upcoming installment will explore a wider world. In response to the expectations of the film, “I mean, of course, obviously the story is different, and the world is going to be much wider, I mean, this time, in terms of being dedicated to the foreground, and I’m doing the subject of what happens behind the scenes, on a much larger scale.Ram Gopal Varma has also announced that the shooting of Sarkar 4 will begin next month. He shared this update during his appearance at the Red Lorry Film Festival.

Mixed reception of the previous part

The last film in the series, Sarkar 3, received a mixed response from critics. The ETimes review said, “Coming to an important question, Shiva, Satya, Company and the first part of Sarkar are back to Ram Gopal Varma form? Well, here you can see some flashes of the filmmaker’s intensity. His story of Mahabharatha or the palace politics as it is called, is played out without interruption. However, there is no easy trick. Some of the dialogue is juicy, but again, that counts for little.”

Franchise legacy and main characters

The Sarkar franchise has been one of Ram Gopal Varma’s most notable works. He starred in the original film Amitabh Bachchan As Subhash Nagre. Abhishek Bachchan played his on-screen son, Shankar. In the sequel, Sarkar Raj introduced Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Anita Rajan. The third installment, Sarkar 3, continued the story with a strong ensemble cast.
