Comedian Samay Raina is back with a special Still Alive where he talked about everything from his Kaun Banega Crorepati appearance to the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent.Reminiscing about her time at KBC, courtesy of the host Amitabh BachchanSamay admitted that she was not being truthful when she said her grandmother was a fan of the megastar.“Dadi mar gayi hai meri. 7 saal ho gaye hain mere dadi ko mar ke,” he declared, adding that he made the statement “just to play in the room.”
“You are not honest on the Indian Internet”
Explaining why she chose to present a different version of herself, Samay said, “Waha maine kiya — ‘Sir dadi meri aapki bohot badi fan hai’… You are not honest on the Indian internet. It can’t be you. You play, you make room.’He added that he had consciously moved away from his usual honest persona. “Main samajhta tha, KBC mein jab ja raha tha, ki main har jagah h * rami banta hoon, yaha clean banunga na bonenge what a versatile creator to log in.”
Samay Raina roasts Amitabh Bachchan
The comedian shared that despite the thoughts of ‘ulta seedha’ while sitting in the hot seat, he held himself back to maintain that image. He also revealed the joke he chose not to make at Bachchan’s expense: “Sir, aapne itna polio ka ad kiya, phir bhi apne bete ko paon pe kyu nahi khada kar paye sir.”He then humorously imagined how things might develop after his appearance. He joked that since Amitabh Bachchan is very active on Twitter, the megastar must have initially thought Samay had achieved something big on TV – “maybe even won the Param Vir Chakra” – calling his family, including Rekha, excitedly. But seeing the controversy later, Samay said it must have been overwhelming, saying, “Sorry Amitabh ji... that night was the worst night of my life — I felt like I had lost all contact.”At the end of the show, Samay said that he couldn’t have asked for a better ending to India’s Got Latent Season 1, and hinted that Season 2 will be out on YouTube soon.
