According to reports, more than one million tickets have already been sold in advance bookings, and many theaters are offering additional shows for the film. There are also some shows after midnight. The film’s nearly four-hour running time has made scheduling difficult for exhibitors, as most theaters have only four screenings per day per screen. According to sources quoted by Hindustan Times, multiplex channels offer approximately four hours and forty minutes per show, including trailers, an interval and the time required to prepare the auditorium for the next show. Due to growing demand, several theaters have started adding post-midnight screenings, something rarely seen in Indian releases.
In Mumbai and Thane regions, cinemas like PVR Chakala and MovieMax Sion offer weekend shows starting at 1.50 am and going on till around 11.30 pm on multiple screens. Similarly, MovieMax Thane and Connplex Cinemas have also started organizing post-midnight screenings from Thursday. Due to security and operational concerns that such arrangements may not be viable everywhere, reports say several theaters in western and southern India are preparing to present night shows the next day.The film’s influence can be seen in Mumbai’s iconic Maratha Mandir. The theater has been screening “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” every day for three decades, usually at 11.30 am. However, to accommodate the extended run of Dhurandhar 2, the long-running classic has been shifted to a morning show.
