Prithviraj Kapoor was one of the few actors to play the role of Lord Ram, thus bringing the mythological genre to the screen. In the 1934 film, Prithviraj played the role of Lord Ram, opposite Durga Khote who played the role of Seeta in the Debaki Kumar Bose directorial.

About Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’

Almost a century later, his great-grandson, Ranbir, will take up the bow and arrows as he presents a modern cinematic remake of the epic in a large-scale production. Ranbir will be playing Lord Ram opposite an ensemble cast including Sai Pallavi Sita, Yas Ravana, Sunny Deol Hanuman, among many others.

‘Ramayana’ release date

The epic saga will hit the big screen in two parts. While Part 1 is slated for a Diwali 2026 release, ‘Ramayana: Part 2’ will hit the big screen in Diwali 2027.
