Rajasthan to get 591 new EV charging stations: City wise breakdown

The Center has approved a proposal to strengthen electric vehicle infrastructure in Rajasthan, sanctioning a financial assistance of Rs 81.12 crore for the roll-out of new charging stations in key cities and highways in the state. The project proposed by Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited aims to make EV use more practical and accessible for both urban commuters and long-distance commuters.A total of 591 EV charging stations will be installed at 262 locations under the approved project. These will be spread across four smart cities in Rajasthan as well as major national and state highways, creating a wider and more reliable charging network.

The proposal was made under the Centre’s Prime Minister’s e-Drive scheme, which focuses on promoting green mobility and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles. Officials believe the move will play a key role in improving the state’s EV ecosystem and addressing one of the biggest concerns for buyers: charging availability.City-wise, Jaipur will get the highest number of charging stations at 112, followed by Ajmer with 49, Udaipur with 39 and Kota with 28. All installations will be done on land owned by government departments, ensuring speedy implementation of the project.Expanding charging infrastructure will make long-distance EV travel more convenient while also improving accessibility within cities, officials say. The initiative is expected to help more people switch to electric vehicles, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions in the region. Input from PTI.
