Priyadarshan He is making his comeback in Hindi cinema after a few years with ‘Bhooth Bangla’. From 2013 to 2026, the filmmaker has just made a film ‘Hungama 2’ and that was during the Covid-19 era. In a recent interview he talked about how times have changed and the evolution of audiences. He also spoke about Hindi cinema and said that filmmakers don’t get creative freedom here because actors dominate. In an interview to Hindustan Times, the director said, “All over India a new generation is coming up with its cinema. Where I have seen Malayalam films doing best, they may not have the budget but they concentrate on the content. These young guys of Malayalam cinema are telling their stories in a very interesting way. Now they are in front of a wider audience thanks to OTT. I have not seen such a change in Bollywood.“He further added, “I don’t see any new experiments in Bollywood. I think actors are dominant here. Creators don’t have creative freedom, that’s what I feel,” says the filmmaker. Although he also clarified that it is not an expert commentary. Priyadarshan added that in Hindi cinema, people should know that content is more important than glamour. He also opened up about getting together Akshay Kumartaboo, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav In ‘Bhooth Bangla’. He said, “It was a very nostalgic shoot, coming together after so long. But when I did the first shot, it didn’t feel like 14 years; it felt like six months. I have personal relationships with all of them. With Tabu, I was doing a film after 25 years. The last one with him was Hera Pheri.”
