Priya Sachdev Kapur remembered her late husband Sunjay Kapur with an emotional Instagram post on Monday to mark their ninth wedding anniversary, the first since his passing in 2025.Sharing a series of photos from their traditional Punjabi wedding, Priya reminisced about their time together, reminiscing about previous anniversary moments and promises made.“Congratulations, J ❤️ Last year, on our 8th, we celebrated your Dosco with friends. It was loud, warm, full of laughter. You looked at me and said you wanted us to be together for the next 7 lives. I’m holding on to that, J,” she wrote.
‘You were my soulmate, my safe place’
Along with the wedding photos, Priya also shared a handwritten note from Sunjay on their seventh anniversary, calling it one of her fondest memories.“On our 7th, you wrote me the most beautiful note. The most precious gift. I carry every word with me. I always will. You were not just my husband. You were my soulmate, my safe place, my heartbeat. With you, I found home. Loving you was the easiest and most beautiful thing I’ve ever known. You made the ordinary feel magical,” she added.Ending on a touching note, she wrote: “You are not in my past, my love. You are waiting in my future. Our story is not over. Happy anniversary, my forever… PS I love you. Always.”
Life remembered, legacy discussed
Sunjay Kapur died in England on 12 June 2025 after collapsing during a polo match. He was 53 years old. The couple tied the knot in 2017 and have a son together, Azarius. Sunjay is also survived by two children, Samaira and Kiaan, from his previous marriage to an actress Karisma Kapoor. Since his death, the family has been embroiled in a legal dispute over his estate. His mother, Rani Kapur, has publicly asserted her position as the head of the family, while matters related to the RK Family Trust and its assets are being heard in the Delhi High Court.
