“Only 60 percent brutality is shown in Dhurandhar 2,” says film’s action director: “Aditya Dhar gave us complete freedom” | Hindi Movie News

‘Dhurandhar’ broke box office records and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ holds the recordon the way to do the same. The film has already crossed 300 crores in theaters in three days. While the internet can’t stop raving about the movie, it has also been criticized for being too violent. In a recent interview, the film’s action director Aejaz Gulab revealed that only 60 percent of the brutality is shown in the film. “We shot all the brutality in detail, but what you see in the film is only 60% as we are in the OTT era and kids can finally watch it, so we had to tone it down,” Aejaz revealed in an interview with Hindi Rush. Elaborating on the filmmaking process, he added, “Aditya Dhar gave us complete freedom.” He said, ‘Aejaz bhai, think as wildly as you can. Kill him in the most intense way you can imagine.’ And that’s what we did, while he added his directorial flair. Aditya is very calm and sharp, but when it comes to action, his thinking works on a whole other level.”While many sequences were carefully choreographed, some moments came together naturally on set. Aejaz recalled one such instance where a violent scene involving Hamza was improvised during filming. “A lot of ideas came up on the spot. Aditya wanted the action to feel ‘manly’, not just simple thrusts or kicks,” he explains. The film’s climax, which lasts more than half an hour, was particularly poignant. According to Aejaz, the mosque sequence alone took six days of rehearsal and 14 days of shooting. Maintaining continuity in such an extended sequence was no easy task, with every department, from hair and make-up to costumes, meticulously documenting every detail to ensure consistency. He also talked about the intense chain fight between each other Arjun Rampal and Ranveer Singhwhere he almost suffocates Rampal’s character Ranveer‘s. “Obviously, we couldn’t use a real chain, so we designed a rubber holder. It wouldn’t cut the skin, but it still caused pain, and Ranveer was bored. Arjun too. They both got injured several times during the climax,” he revealed.Despite the injuries, the actors did not relax. “They wouldn’t stop, even in rehearsals, they really pushed each other. They were so engrossed in the scene, even after they got hurt, they refused to take breaks. We use lighter props for safety, but when used with force, they hurt. In that chain sequence, we even had to stretch Ranveer Singh’s eyes when Arjun revealed his face.”
