Set against the backdrop of 1990s Mumbai, ‘O’ Romeo’ is a mix of romance, obsession and crime in equal measure. The story follows Ustara, a young man who falls deeply and dangerously in love with Afsha (played by Tripti Dimri). His love soon becomes an obsession, leading him into the violent underworld of the city.The screenplay is co-written by Vishal Bhardwaj and Rohan Narula and is inspired by S. Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’.
Actors and characters
Shahid Kapoor has directed the film as Ustara, with Triptii Dimri playing Afsha Qureshi. The supporting cast includes Nana Patekar as DCP Ismail Khan, Avinash Tiwary as Jalaluddin Shah, Tamannaah Bhatia Rabia, Disha Patani as Julie and veteran actress Farida Jalal as Dadi. It also features Hussain Dalal and Rahul Deshpande in lead roles.
