Nora Fatehiwho is currently focused on expanding her global music career, recently addressed the controversy surrounding her statements about feminism. The actor who was recently in the news for the song ‘Sarke Chunar’ has clarified that his comments on feminism were misinterpreted. He explained that clips of his previous interview were taken out of context, distorting the perception of his views.Nora reviewed the 2024 interview and said in an interview Lilly Singh“I had a podcast last year where we talked about feminism and then some little clips come out on reels and TikToks and they blow up and people lose context. What I’m advocating is that extremism is something I’m totally against.”
Opening up about her personal experiences, Nora shared that she was raised by a single mother and felt the absence of a traditional family structure while growing up. “I know how important it is to have the presence of two parents, whether it’s a mother and a father, or two mothers or two fathers, whatever it is, but a nuclear family where there is the presence of both parents and security and home and love and care and discipline. I advocate all of that,” he said. She also reflected on how some narratives about independence do not always take into account the child’s emotional needs. “I would love to be in a two-parent home because eventually as you get older that excess baggage and emotional damage spills over into adult life and I would hate to live in a world where people don’t care about the nuclear family anymore,” she added.Emphasizing the need for a middle ground, Nora spoke of balancing independence and shared responsibility. “I want you to stand for balance, get your money, fulfill your dreams, work hard, create a foundation, but at the same time, let’s create an environment where men are accountable, where men should step up, they should be responsible. I think we don’t have that environment right now,” he said. He also asked, “We’ve created this environment because we’re so independent that we don’t need you. Why can’t we be independent, strong and still need you? Why can’t you move forward and we share, and we balance.’ Also, that men should become allies and “now there are not so many”.For context, Nora’s first comments were made during the hearing Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel in 2024, where her views on feminism caused backlash online. At the time, she said: “This idea that I don’t need anybody, feminism, I don’t believe in this shit. In fact, I think that feminism is blowing up our society. The idea of being completely independent by yourself and not having to get married and have children and not have a male-female dynamic at home, where the man is raised and the woman is raised by the man. I don’t believe in people who think this isn’t true. I think women are nurturers, yes, they should go to work and have their own lives and be independent but to a certain extent.’She also emphasized her belief in traditional roles, saying, “They should be ready to take on the role of being a mother, wife and nurturer. Just like a man should be ready to be a provider, a breadwinner and a father and a husband. We call that traditional old-school thinking. I call feminism the normal way of thinking. equal in more sentimental things but in social things, we’re not equal. Feminism itself, at a basic level, is great. I also support women’s rights, I want girls to go to school too. However, when feminism becomes radical, it becomes dangerous for society.’
