Ken Karunas The ‘Youth’ actor is doing well in the theaters and his Tamil film is soon to be released in Telugu. The highlight of the film is the songs composed by GV Prakash Kumar. Now, the ‘Youth’ composer revealed an interesting fact about the film that created a buzz recently.Speaking to Cinema Vikatan, GV Prakash he says that when he approached an audio company for ‘Youth’ they showed little interest in buying the album. “They felt it was a movie with a new hero and said it wouldn’t have much reach,” he said. He further added, “I was also told that there are no viral songs on this album” and offered a very small amount for the music rights.
GV Prakash rules out a bigger audio deal
Things changed when a song from the film started trending online before its release. The same audio company came back with a much bigger offer. “They came back and offered almost five times more,” he noted. However, GV Prakash refused the deal. “If they didn’t appreciate my music in the beginning, I don’t want to work with them later,” he said. He decided to release the album through his own music label, confident in his work and believing in independent music.

GV Prakash also talked about composing the popular song ‘Pookal Pookum’ from ‘Madrasapattinam’. He said that the tune came to him suddenly while he was travelling. “I asked my friend to stop the bike and recorded the tune on my phone,” he shared. Later, he worked at home and played for the manager. But the director initially said, “There is no situation in the film for this song.”

Despite his doubts, GV Prakash believed in the song. “Create a situation for that, this song is very nice,” he said to the director. The band later added a scene to include the track. The song was a huge hit and remains one of his most loved works. “I always trust my instincts when it comes to music,” he added. The story reflects his self-assurance and imagination, which have established him as one of the leading composers of Hindi cinema.
