As the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues, authorities have released a new update. They think they know the kidnapper’s motive. The search for Nancy is now in its seventh week, and no suspects or persons of interest have been identified.
Authorities believe the kidnapping was targeted
In an interview with NBC News, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared more about the investigation into missing Nancy Guthrie. “We think we know why (the hijacker) did this and we think it was targeted, but we’re not 100% sure about that,” Nanos said. The sheriff declined to elaborate on a possible motive, saying, “I think it’s been out since day one. I think day one, we had some strong beliefs about what happened and those beliefs haven’t diminished.”Nanos said investigators remain hopeful that the “mixed-up” DNA found in Nancy’s Tucson, Ariz., home will lead investigators “to somebody.”
internet service was interrupted the night Nancy Guthrie disappeared
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI were recently seen searching the neighborhood. Several neighbors said investigators asked if they had experienced an outage of Internet service the night Nancy went missing, NBC previously reported.
