Nancy Cartwright, the voice behind Bart Simpson on “The Simpsons,” has revealed the funniest spot she’s ever been asked to do the “Bart voice.” Cartwright, 68, explained that he was once on a flight to London when a flight attendant met him and asked him to do an impression in the cabin. Cartwright has been the voice of Bart Simpson for over 38 years.

In an episode of his podcast ‘Simpsons Declassified’, Joe Mantegna, who voiced the Simpsons character Fat Tony, questioned the “funniest place” someone has ever asked him to voice Bart. Nancy then recalled being recognized by her voice by a flight attendant on a flight to London. “He said, ‘Sorry to interrupt you, Mrs. Cartwright, but he was asking, are you the voice of Bart Simpson?’ “I say, ‘Yes, I am,'” the actor recalled. “He says, ‘Okay, our two pilots are huge fans, would there be any way they could get in the cockpit and announce that we’re going to Heathrow?’ “

Cartwright told the flight attendant he would be “glad to do it.” “So we go up, and I’m like waving my hands,” he continued. “They gave me the microphone, and I said something like this [in the voice of Bart Simpson] “Ladies and gentlemen, this is Bart Simpson speaking. I’m the co-pilot here, and I just wanted to let you know that we’re landing in Japan in about 15 minutes, so fasten your seat belts.’ “

Cartwright recently revealed that she originally auditioned for the role of Lisa on the long-running show. Speaking to People in a Feb. 6 interview, the actress revealed that even though she went for the role of Lisa, she found Bart to be a more interesting character during the audition. As he says, a 10-year-old boy who hates school and is proud. That’s more interesting,” he thought. And then he auditioned for the part of Bart and got the part there.
