Mrithyunjay, starring Sree Vishnu, hit the big screens on March 6. The film is written and directed by Sri Hussain Sha Kiran and latest reports say that the actor is gearing up for its digital release after the completion of its theatrical run. The Telugu action thriller will soon reach a wider audience via OTT.
OTT release date and platform confirmed
According to 123 Telugu website, the makers have locked down the details of the OTT release of ‘Mrithyunjay’. The film will start streaming on Netflix from April 3, 2026. This comes less than a month after its theatrical release.According to reports, the film will be available in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
Story and basic plot
‘Mrithyunjay’ revolves around an engaging investigative narrative. The story follows Jay, played by Sree Vishnu, a marketing employee working in a newspaper. Despite his role, he dreams of being a crime reporter.His life takes a turn when two deaths in Hyderabad turn out to be eerily similar. While the authorities initially dismiss it as a routine case, Jay senses something unusual. As more clues are found, the case becomes more and more complex and dangerous.
Critical reception
The film received mixed to positive reviews. ETimes stated, “The film has an intriguing premise and some well-handled investigative sequences that keep the audience engaged. Several moments, especially when the clues start to connect, add tension and keep the mystery interesting. However, the pace occasionally slows down, especially in parts where the narrative drags on longer than necessary. These intervals slightly dilute the suspense that the film works on. Technically, Mrithyunjay maintains a consistent tone. The cinematography supports the thriller atmosphere, while the background score heightens the tension without overwhelming the scenes. The storytelling remains focused on the investigative process, giving the film a steady narrative pace, even if it briefly loses steam.”
Actors and technical team
Along with Sree Vishnu, the film stars Reba Monica John in the role of ACP Seetha Patra. The supporting cast includes Baby Uha, Sudharshan, Raccha Ravi, Ayyappa, Sijju and Aishwarya.On the technical side, cinematography is handled by Vidya Sagar Chinta, editing by Sreekar Prasad and the music of the film is composed by Kaala Bhairava.
