The news of Phil Campbell’s death was shared through a heartfelt statement from his family.The post read: “It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell, passed away peacefully last night in intensive care after a long and courageous battle following complex major surgery. Phil was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and a proud and loving grandfather, affectionately known as “Bampi”. He was dearly loved by all who met him and will be greatly missed. His legacy, his music and the memories he created with so many will live on forever. We kindly ask that our family’s privacy be respected at this incredibly difficult time.”
Motörhead remembers their longtime guitarist
Motörhead’s official page also shared a touching tribute to the guitarist. In the tribute, the band wrote: “We can’t believe we’re saying this… it is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Philip Anthony Campbell. He was Motörhead’s guitarist for 31 years (the longest-serving member besides Lemmy) when he joined in 1984.”The tribute continued: “After Lemmy passed away, he formed Phil Campbell and The Bastard Sons with his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla, who recorded and toured together for many years.”The band added: “Phil was an amazing guitarist, writer, performer and musician, with Motörhead in his veins. He always led with his guitar talent, and had a great sense of humor, but most of all, Phil led with his heart.”
