Despite the high-profile meeting between the two, Suri confirmed to Variety India that while she “intends to work” with the superstar, there is no project in the works. This statement comes on the heels of Suri’s massive success with ‘Saiyaara’ in 2025, which grossed over Rs 570 crore worldwide and became the highest grossing Indian romantic film of all time.

Speaking to Variety India, she said, “Ranbir Kapoor is not in my next film. I really want to work with him and I hope he feels the same way about me. I went to meet him with the intention of discussing and working together. Meanwhile, it has come out in the news that we are already doing a film together. Ranbir and I have known each other since the beginning because he has been following my career.” He added that Ranbir is one of the few actors and big stars who appreciates a film like ‘Awaarapan’ even though it flopped on release. He continues to say that it is one of his best films.

Mohit says Ranbir stands out from other actors. “Normally, actors talk to you about their highest-grossing film and say it’s your best film. While Ranbir is talking about a flop film of mine.” The director sees in himself the perfect hero for his stories. “I think it has the depth and layered nuances that my kind of film needs. But no, there is no Ranbir Kapoor in my film, at the moment. I wish there was,” Suri revealed.

Suri’s last directorial ‘Saiyaara’ was released in July 2025 under Yash Raj Filmsproved that the director is still the king of the “new-age” love story. The film became a newcomer Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the overnight sensations, Ahaan became the first debutant to enter Rs. 500 million global club. It officially surpassed “Kabir Singh” to become the biggest romantic drama in Indian history.
