Director: ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ Aditya DharIt has become a box office smash, drawing huge crowds and sparking widespread debate across the nation. It has been the talk of the town. However, despite its phenomenal commercial run, Dhurandhar 2 has also faced criticism from a section of the audience, with some calling it a “propaganda” film. Although several public figures have previously weighed in on the debate, the veteran actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty now he has shared his vision.Chakraborty reflected on his unreleased project ‘The Bengal Files’ in 2025, highlighting the contrast in how the two films have treated him. He argued that if the release of his film could be blocked, then similar objections should be applied to “Dhurandhar 2” as well. He further said that the allegations of “propaganda” surfaced only after the release of the film. He told IANS: “The Bengal Files ko askatu hone nahi diya, isse badi kya baat karenge? Ab Dhurandhar ko bhi propaganda kehte, toh Dhurandhar ko bhi rok lete na? Dhurandhar release hui, aur ab aap kehte ho ki propaganda hai. nahi diya Bengal mein. Isse badi dukh ki baat kya ho sakti hai?”
He also explained that ‘The Bengal Files’ is based on the Noakhali riots that took place before India’s Independence, but he has not yet been able to secure its release. Defending Aditya Dhar’s film, Mithun added, “Toh dadagiri, jo bolna hai boliye, lekin Dhurandhar ne saare records tod diye. Itne logon ne picture dekhi hogi tab na.
