MG Windsor EV Sales Cross 65k Units: 70% Coming From Non-Metros!

EV adoption in India is no longer limited to big cities, and JSW MG Motor India’s latest sales data clearly reflects this shift. The company has announced that its popular electric car, MG Windsor EV, has crossed the cumulative sales of over 65,000 units, with 70 per cent of demand coming from non-metro markets.According to the carmaker, metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai account for only 30 per cent of Windsor’s total sales, while the remaining 70 per cent comes from smaller cities and towns. This marks a major shift in EV buying trends, which were earlier concentrated in urban centers due to limited awareness and infrastructure. In terms of powertrain specs, the Windsor EV makes 136 hp of power and 200 Nm of torque, and is offered with two battery options. The standard version comes with a 38 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 332 km, while the larger 52.9 kWh pack in the Pro variant delivers up to 449 km on a single charge. The model is also available with a Battery as a Service (BaaS) option, with prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 3.9 per km.

It also aims to increase its EV momentum, having sold around one lakh electric vehicles between October 2024 and February 2026, including models like the Comet and ZS EV.Looking ahead, the company has outlined plans to introduce four new models this year, including a plug-in hybrid SUV.
