Grammy winner Lola Young has taken a brave step forward in her recovery process by sharing her struggles with ‘drug recovery’ after a shocking performance last year of ‘Conceited’.

After collapsing on stage at a NYC music festival last year, singer Lola Young is getting candid about her “drug recovery.” The ‘Don’t Hate Me’ singer has now revealed that he is recovering and feeling better. The musician was performing “Conceited” on September 27, 2025 when he collapsed and was carried off stage by medical team members.

Speaking to The Times UK, the Grammy-winning singer said: “recovery is an ongoing process. I’m not the finished article, but I’m doing a lot better.” Clarifying what he means by recovery, Young added, “I mean drug recovery, yeah. When you’re in recovery, that doesn’t necessarily mean drugs, but me specifically, yeah.” The singer also shared that she now regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings.

Lola Young describes the stage collapse as a wake-up call

News of Young’s recovery comes six months after he collapsed while performing “Conceited” at New York’s All Things Go Music Festival in September. After a few moments, a team of doctors took him off the stage. Three days later, the singer canceled all of her future tour dates and appearances. Speaking to Rolling Stone in March, Young said the incident was a wake-up call. “I’m so grateful that it happened, what do you call it? A breaking point allowed me to be here today, to be better for my fans, for the future and for me,” he said.Young has been open about his cocaine addiction in the past and has reportedly been to rehab twice. At this year’s Grammy Awards, Lola Young won Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Messy’.
