Comedian Kunal Kamra has hit out at YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, accusing him of “milking” the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent and ignoring the fallout the comedy community is facing. The controversy stems from an episode of the show hosted by Samay Raina, where Allahbadia made a lewd remark about parental intimacy. The comment sparked a backlash, leading to FIRs in every state, court summons for several creators including Kamra, and the removal of episodes from YouTube.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s remark sparks backlash
Speaking to X, Allahbadia reflected on the controversy, noting that “it took 10 years to build brands” but “one incident changed everything.” Referring to a doha of Sant Kabir, he wrote: “धीरे-धीरे रे माना, धीरे सब कुरे-धीरे रे माना, धीरे सब कुरे-धिरे रे माना, दु आई फल होय… A simple reminder that growth takes time, and so does rebuilding. However, his message did not go down well with Kamra, who responded sharply, stating what he believed Allahbadia had failed to acknowledge.
‘More than 30 artists were called’: Kamra Kamra
Kamra highlighted the broader impact of the controversy, noting that more than 30 artists, including himself, had been summoned by authorities for their connection to the show.He added that the consequences attached were severe: shows were canceled, venues were withdrawn and comedians faced all kinds of trials. According to Kamra, the fallout from Allahbadia’s statement continues to affect the standing circuit.“The pathetic shadow of Ranveer’s stupidity still continues to make life difficult for funny comedians. You didn’t even care to understand that side,” Kamra said.
‘Stop pretending you’re a nice guy’
The comedian further accused Allahbadia of ignoring this reality and called out what he described as a carefully guarded public image.Demanding that he take responsibility, Kamra wrote: “Stop pretending to be the nice guy you’re not. Take your check, look down and be very ashamed. You’re a creative contraption, stop milking this and get back to what you do best, which is being an obstacle to upward social change by FraudCasting and chasing power…”.
There is no response from Allahbadia yet
So far, Allahbadia has not publicly responded to Kamra’s remarks. The controversy, which erupted in February 2025, has already led to several legal and professional setbacks for those associated with the show. Allahbadia had previously apologized, admitting that comedy was “not her forte”. But Kamra’s latest comments indicate that for many in the industry, the fallout is far from over.
