A Los Angeles judge has denied Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner’s bid to seal documents related to their 2023 deal with Ray J. The dispute centers on an alleged $6 million settlement over a sex tape, which Ray J says the Kardashians were discussing on their Hulu show.

The disputed records include the 2023 agreement raised by Ray J in the case. The judge found that Kardashian and Jenner did not provide sufficient evidence to show that release of the material would cause harm.

Kardashian and Jenner asked the court to seal documents related to an alleged 2023 settlement related to the sex tape lawsuit. The request included the agreement itself and other related documents. In their submissions to the court, lawyers for Kardashian and Jenner said: “The agreement dealt with very sensitive matters, which the parties expressly agreed to keep confidential, to protect their families from public disclosure and to respect those sensitive matters.The judge refused this request. Court records show that Kardashian and Jenner were ordered to submit unredacted versions of the settlement after Ray J opposed the sealing request. The legal dispute began in October 2025, when Kardashian and Jenner sued Ray J. They were accused of defaming the mother-daughter duo by saying they were being investigated by federal authorities. Kardashian and Jenner denied those claims in the lawsuit.

Ray J’s 2023 Secret Agreement Claims

Ray J later filed a countersuit, alleging that Kardashian and Jenner breached their 2023 confidentiality agreement related to the sex tape lawsuit. He said the agreement required him to remain silent about the tape. He also alleged that he received $6 million under that agreement.On the counter, Ray J said Kardashian and Jenner violated the agreement by discussing the tape in an episode of their Hulu show. The Kardashian family has not confirmed the alleged $6 million payment. Kardashian and Jenner then asked the judge to keep the settlement and related documents private, citing confidential and personal information. Ray J objected to that application, and the judge upheld the sealing. The ruling is about access to court records and does not resolve the underlying claims in the lawsuit and counterclaim. The feud between Kardashian, Jenner and Ray J continues.
