JEE Main Session 2 Answer Key 2026: National Testing Agency (NTA) is currently confirming claims regarding discrepancies in the Chemistry section of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 2 exam held on April 5. The issue reportedly occurred in the Shift 2 exam, causing concern among students and teachers.
NTA asks candidates not to pay for challenges.
Taking cognizance of the matter, NTA has advised the candidates not to make any payment for challenging the Chemistry answer key until an official clarification is issued. The agency acknowledged the issue in a social media post, saying:“Reports of discrepancies in the JEE Chemistry paper (April 5, S2) have been noted on social media and are currently being verified. NTA regrets the inconvenience caused. Candidates are advised not to make any payment related to these challenges until an official clarification is issued.”
Students are expressing concern on social media.
Following the announcement, several students, parents and teachers took to social media to express their concerns. Many candidates questioned the seriousness of the issue, saying that the disparity had created panic among students. Some candidates also highlighted that the exam involves years of preparation and such mistakes can cause significant stress and uncertainty.One student commented, “What are you doing? Please release the correct answer key as soon as possible about the mental torture you have caused this shift kids and apologize for the problem.”Another student wrote, “This discrepancy cannot be dismissed with just an apology from NTA. Accountability must be ensured.”Another user also expressed concern, saying, “How can NTA make such a mistake. Please try to understand that this exam involves years of preparation and a lot of expectations from students and parents who rely on JEE.” The NTA should understand the trauma it has caused to many students and their parents.”
The provisional answer key was released on 11th April.
NTA had earlier released the provisional answer key for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Paper 1 (BE/BTech) on 11 April 2026. Along with the answer key, the agency also opened an objection window. Candidates who have appeared for the April session can check their provisional answer key and recorded answers through the official website — jeemain.nta.nic.in using their login credentials.
JEE Main Session 2 Exam Details
The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exams were held from April 2 to April 8. According to NTA, the exam was conducted in 566 examination centers in 304 cities in India and 14 cities outside the country. Around 11.23 lakh candidates appeared in the Computer Based Test (CBT).
Objection fee and key date for final reply
Candidates who want to challenge the provisional answer key will have to pay a non-refundable processing fee of Rs.200 per question. However, students are advised to wait for further clarification regarding the Chemistry section of the April 5 Shift 2 exam before submitting objections.After reviewing all the objections and concerns, NTA will release the final answer key on 20 April 2026. If a challenge is found to be valid, the agency will revise the answer key accordingly.
