As reported by The Mid Day, the case was registered after a formal complaint by the production team of ‘Jana Nayagan’. R. Udayakumar, Production Controller of KVN Productions, approached the authorities and demanded urgent action. According to reports, he alleged that several people accessed, copied and circulated the unreleased footage without permission. According to the complaint, 21 people have been named for participating in the piracy network.

Reports suggest that the leak initially appeared as a short five-minute clip before being uploaded to the full-length version online. The leaked material reportedly included key sequences such as the title intro and parts of the climax.
Clarification of CBFC
According to TOI City Council, General Board of Film Certification has dismissed claims linking the leak to its system as “baseless and misleading”.As reported, officials explained, all films are processed through a secure message mechanism for sending password-protected keys. “Without a valid KDM, content cannot be accessed or viewed,” officials said while explaining the protocol. The management also stated that the Digital Cinema package of the film was delivered on March 17 and has been in the hands of the petitioner since then.
Production concerns in the Vijay starrer
The spill may impact the box office performance of ‘Jana Nayagan’ and disrupt the planned release strategies. In the complaint, Udayakumar asked the authorities to immediately block the leaked content on all digital platforms. He also asked the officials to seize the devices used in the offence, such as mobile phones, laptops and storage media.According to IANS, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA), one of the oldest and largest bodies representing film and entertainment producers, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention and immediate strict action against those involved in film piracy.
