Daniel Craig, who played James Bond for more than 15 years, is now the face of a new electric car campaign. It has teamed up with BYD to promote its upcoming luxury EV under the Denza brand. It comes as a big change, changing from the classic Bond image of loud, powerful petrol cars.

The campaign features the new Denza Z9 GT, but the image shared by the brand has drawn mixed reactions. Photos appear more digitally created than photos taken in a traditional photo shoot. If that wasn’t enough, it has unusual angles and proportions. Almost as if it was edited in haste. Carr and Daniel Craig don’t seem entirely compatible. As a result, the images lack some of the polish and cinematic style usually associated with James Bond.
Over the years, Bond has been associated with brands such as Aston Martin. Not to mention, these cars were known for their sound and performance. That said, the Denza Z9 GT brings strong numbers. It offers a claimed range of up to 1,036 km under CTLC conditions. BYD says this makes it the world’s longest-range pure electric car. It uses a 122.5 kWh blade battery. With the brand’s fast charging technology, the battery can go from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. It can go from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. Even in -30°C conditions, it takes about 12 minutes to charge from 20% to 97%.The car uses a tri-motor setup with around 1,000 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in less than 3 seconds. BYD has confirmed that the model will launch in Europe on April 8, 2026.
