“Heading into the season, I read the speculation about @RishabhPant17’s captaincy and smiled. We’ve spent a lot of time together getting to know his character and determination. Have a great season, Cap!” Goenka wrote on X. This is not the first time that such rumors have surfaced. During IPL 2025, similar claims gained attention on social media, suggesting that Pant could also be dropped due to concerns over his hefty price tag. The wicketkeeper-batsman reacted strongly at the time, calling for spreading false information. “I understand that fake news gives content more attention, but let’s not build everything around it. A little sense and credible news would help more than fake news with an agenda. Thanks, have a nice day. Let’s be responsible and sensible with what we put out on social media,” Pant posted. After the buzz surrounding his role, the focus now shifts to cricket. Pant’s form will be closely watched when LSG begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Delhi Capitals at the Ekna Stadium in Lucknow on April 1.
