A fearless response ahead of IPL debut
According to Samson, RR coach Rahul Dravid called the young batsman for a meeting before his first IPL match to discuss how he should approach the game. Dravid wanted to guide the youngster and asked him about his plans for the match. However, Suryavanshi’s answer surprised everyone in the room.“I was actually at the meeting,” Samson said. “Rahul sir called him into the room and said to me, ‘Sanju, we need to talk to him, he is a very young child; we need to tell him how to go about it.’ “So Rahul sir asked him, ‘WebWhat’s the plan?’ Vaibhav replied, ‘Kuch nahi sir, we will play (nothing special, sir. I will only play).’ Rahul sir then asked, ‘What is your game plan?’“Vaibhu said, ‘If we get the first ball, we will get it first’ (if the first ball is in my zone, I will hit it in the air) and that’s exactly what he did. He was playing a video game of his own,” Samson added.
