Top seed Anahit Singh and unseeded compatriots Tanvi Khanna A strong Indian presence ensured the women’s singles semi-finals of the Indian Open Squash Championship at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) Courts in Mumbai on Friday.However, it was disappointing for the local favourite. Joshna ChanpaWho was eliminated from the tournament after losing 1-3 to Egypt’s Nadine Al Hamami.

Despite a slightly stronger challenge in the second game, Anahat’s combination of strength and guile proved too good, as she comfortably sealed her place in the semi-finals.Tanvi surprised the fourth seed.Tanvi Khanna produced one of the standout performances of the day, defeating fourth seed Aina Amani 3-1 (11-6, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8).After taking the first game, Tanvi briefly lost momentum while Amani leveled the match, but the Indian rallied to dominate the final two games and book her semi-final berth.Joshna Falls to El HammamyJoshna Chinpa started strong against El Hamami and fought back in the second game, but had trouble handling the Egyptian’s speed and accuracy.Al Hamami stepped up in the latter stages to claim the last two games and secure a 3-1 (11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 11-1) victory.Mu’taz won the five-game thriller.In another quarter-final, Hana Mutaz defeated Malaysia’s Yashmita Jadesh Kumar in a thrilling five-game contest to win 3-2 (11-8, 8-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8).
