The story and our verdict
The story revolves around family feuds and lighthearted moments. ‘Happy Raj’ tries to mix comedy with emotional family bonds.ETimes’ review of the film reads: “George Maryan is the film’s greatest asset. You could even argue that it’s his film more than GVP’s. He commits to it with a seriousness that makes even weaker material watchable, and the father-son dynamic with GV Prakash carries real warmth. Keep things moving. Abbas brings nostalgia and a certain easy charm to his comeback, even if his character is written with little depth. Gouri Priya holds her own, and the supporting cast, including Adhirchi Arun and Premji Amaran, come in with enough comic energy to keep the middle intervals at bay. Justin Prabhakaran’s music is useful.”
Actors and performances
George Maryan plays Kathamuthu and shines as the eccentric father. Her performance adds more emotion to the father-son scenes with GV Prakash. Sri Gouri Priya and Prathana Nathan handle their roles well in the romantic track. Abbas gives it back with easy charm and the supporting cast including Kishore Rajkumar, Udayaraj and Deepthi add to the comic atmosphere in parts as per our official review.DISCLAIMER: Box office numbers and data in this article have been collected from public and industry sources.
