Actor Michael Patrick, best known for appearing in the hit series ‘Game of Thrones’, has sadly passed away. He was 35 years old. News of his death comes after a long battle with motor neurone disease. He was diagnosed with the disease in February 2023. According to TMZ, the disease is a progressive condition that affects the nerve cells responsible for vital functions such as breathing, swallowing, speaking and movement.
Michael Patrick’s wife pays tribute
According to the latest reports, news of his death was confirmed by his wife, Naomi Sheehan, who shared a touching tribute on Instagram on Wednesday. Sharing a photo from their wedding day, Naomi wrote: ‘Last night Mick sadly passed away at Hospice Northern Ireland. He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease on February 1, 2023. He was admitted 10 days ago and was treated by the amazing team there. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.“In a moving tribute, she wrote: “Words cannot describe how heartbroken we are. It has been said time and time again that Mick was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of dealing with him, not just in the last years of his illness, but every day of his life. He lived as full as any human being can live. Joy, an infectious spirit galore. Man, we are grateful to all the people who have supported us over the last few years.““Mick loved this quote from Brendan Behan and it seems right now: ‘The most important things in the world are to eat, drink and get someone to love you.’ So don’t overthink it. eat drink Love,” he finished.
Friends of Michael Patrick raise funds for tracheostomy treatment
In November 2025, her friend came together to start a Go Fund Me page to support her care and medical needs after a tracheostomy. The post read: “To give him the best chance to benefit from this breakthrough, Michael’s doctors are recommending a tracheotomy. This is a small tube in the front of his neck that will help him breathe with weakened muscles and give him a chance to survive. This is easy, if you can believe it. The difficulty is that tracheostomy requires new and highly specialized care. His doctors advise that, especially in the early stages, he will need constant and skilled support to keep his airways safe and help him adjust to this big change.”The cost was estimated at around GBP 100,000 to support Michael’s new care needs. The campaign was a success, with his family raising over GBP 110,487. In addition to his role in ‘Game of Thrones’, Patrick appeared in several television projects, including ‘Blue Lights’ and ‘This Town’.
